On April 8, 2026, Murata Manufacturing officially announced the mass production of seven new multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) designed for automotive applications. These new products achieve significantly higher capacitance within compact sizes, addressing the increasing demand for high-performance and space-efficient automotive electronics.
The new lineup includes:
Five low-voltage MLCCs (2.5–4Vdc) for ADAS IC peripheral circuits
Two mid-voltage MLCCs (25Vdc) for power line applications
Key Highlights
As automotive systems continue to evolve toward higher intelligence and integration, component performance becomes increasingly critical. Murata’s latest MLCCs deliver notable advancements:
- High Capacitance in Smaller Sizes
The company has miniaturized a 100μF capacitor into a 1206 package, reducing PCB area by approximately 36%.
Additionally, capacitance in the ultra-compact 0201 size has been increased from 1μF to 2.2μF.
- Enhanced Power Stability
In the mid-voltage category, Murata achieved 1μF capacitance in a 0402 package, reducing board space by about 61% while improving voltage stability in fluctuating power environments.
Application Benefits
- ADAS Systems: Ensures stable operation of ICs
- Power Management Circuits: Improves resilience against voltage fluctuations
- Compact Designs: Frees up valuable PCB space for higher integration
With the rapid advancement of automotive electronics, the demand for high-performance MLCC solutions continues to grow. Murata’s latest innovations provide a strong foundation for next-generation automotive designs.
